Getting There
There are two international airports in Crete. Both Heraklion and Chania Airports are approximately an hour away from Rethymno. Taxis, Buses and Rental Cars are available.
A note on Car Rental: There are numerous car rental options at each airport to pre-book online.
Renting a car is a great way to see the island but both Cretan roads and Cretan drivers can be unpredictable and some intersections around Rethymno are chaotic at best. If you are not used to driving manual, make sure to book an automatic. Also consider the narrow winding nature of many Cretan roads when choosing the size of your car; parking and navigating in some of the old towns of Crete are best done in a small to mid sized car.
If you are not planning on travelling beyond Rethymno, taxis are always available and the wedding events are all within a ten minute drive of each other.

Recommended Time Spent in Rethymno
Regardless of whether you choose to stay at Creta Palace or in an Old-Town--Rethymno boutique hotel or self catering apartment or villa, we strongly recommend not spending your entire time on the island of Crete in Rethymno Town. After a few days of exploring this town in and around our wedding celebrations (12th - 14th June) we strongly suggest moving on to a quieter part of the island to experience some of the traditional white-washed villages, crystal blue seas and pristine beaches that are on offer outside of Rethymno. See suggestions in the 'Things To Do' section.
